I'm sure most of you will have seen/heard of the UK based company INEOS who are teaming up with their European partners to produce the INEOS grenadier. It's due to be on sale in the UK as of mid 2021 and is estimated to have a UK sale price of around £38k (commercial VAT free) or £45k to average Joe Bloggs.

I'd be interested to hear what you guys have to say about the Grenadier? Personally design wise having followed the creation from the beginning and watched all of the YouTube updates over the past year, I think it looks like one of the best engineered 4x4's available. Possibly the only thing in the world I'd trade my Gen.4 for?

I bet the guys over at JLR are s**ting themselves........

Take a look at this crash test prototype in the flesh:

I like the look of it, they have sourced all the components from tried and tested manufacturers. I have driven the new Defender off road and it is a very capable machine, however it is soulless and looks like just another SUV.

Yeah I'm not trying to discredit the new Defender, but after all the Grenadier will be in the same class (at least from a price point of view) and In my opinion is the better choice for anyone wanting a 'no frills' tried and tested off-roader. Like you said they've outsourced the running gear to a specialist that manufactures nothing other than running gear for plant machinery and tractors and they're offering tried and tested BMW engines both of which have been awarded engine of the year on several occasions.

When they pulled the manufacturing from Wales to France I felt I no longer wanted one.

There were so many things that were right about the Defender but it was let down by the myriad numbers of things that were wrong. Land --Rover came out of Rover and the quality dropped and the new company set it's site on the prestige market and the Defender was left to die.
I wish the Grenadier the best of luck.

Roger

Any real reason? It's not as if Jimny's are built in Wales. And in fairness, Ineos wasn't actually building cars in Wales at any point.
