Which begs the question, why are so many people so keen to delete/modify them in the permanently engaged position? Surely if you just leave them engaged and then disable the vac system the hub will stay engaged but is reversible if required

Because the magnets are not brilliant and anyone playing with the 4wd may get enough vacuum to disconnect then
