That may be.
But it will also prevent the front tyres from digging in, getting traction.

That may be, but its not as big a deal because the t-case is 50/50, meaning equal power to front and rear, so rear is able to keep going even if both fronts lose traction

I know how the 4x4 works, thank you ;)

If rear axle traction is sufficient, why even bother engaging 4WD :P

I really can't see the point in those huge snowplows some of you fit to the front axle. But hey.. your money ;)

As said before, the issue is not reducing clearance under the diff by 5mm, it's the reduce clearance under the rest of the axle of 50mm or so. Skidding forwards might work ok, but what about when you need to back up? Suddenly your skid has become a plough!

Point taken Busta! Never thought of that

However it seems the manufacter did as it's curved on both sides.

Double ended snow ski :D

my home made guard, similar sort of thing, had this fitted when i had my smaller tyres did offer good protection but i got hung up on it a few times.when i had a run out in the snow it acted as a plough and really held me back.see other pic.i now dont run it but do intend to modify it so it follows the axle,im running larger tyres now that when i first had it fitted so shouldnt be as much of in issue.
