Over the past two days I wanted to install the winch.

I firstly had to notch out a piece of the front slam panel as the winch was catching slightly.

Welded up the cross-section with some plate on either side to seal the cross member. Painted in red oxide primer and then black.

Installed the winch on the bottom-half of the bumper assembly (winch plate) after feeding the winch rope through the fairlead.

A snug fit but I can still get to the clutch/free spool handle.

All installed and finished. Admittedly quite anticlimatic because I can't really see it! But at least I know it's finally installed and ready to wire up.

Today I

Re mounted the back wheel following complete refurb of the mounting hub, inside of the alloy, tow bar.

Fashioned a replacement boot tray

Rubbed down and rust treated the spots on the bar across the front of the engine bay

Does anyone know what the colour of the paint is in the engine compartment please it’s not the same as the red on the car

Ordered a little centre console about 2 months ago from Aliexpress - £31.00 including shipping.

Arrived yesterday and was surprisingly OK - plastic is a bit cheap and brittle however I'm going to take it apart and reinforce it in various places.

It has 5 USB sockets however it seems expected that you run a USB cable from the cigarette socket to the console which in turn powers the other 5 USB's. I can't imagine how pathetic the voltage would be coming out of them if I did this so they will be getting rewired properly into the second battery when I get a chance.

Other than that, very happy. It also slides back and forth for minor adjustment. Top is comfortable and well padded for your elbow.

Looks great Keith.... Jack was talking about something similar, he's concerned about forward rolls when he is trialling, some of the shear drops that the landy's just fall off, virtually swallow a Jimny.
