Disconnecting the brake pipe unions, is easy - as said above, a good previous night soaking in WD40 (I prefer to use Ultra 2040) and be careful when un-doing the brake bleed nuts.

When they're undone, i use a bit of old pipe, stuffed with a bolt, and shove over the brake pipe (stops all fluid coming out, and makes bleeding a lot easier).

I havent read the How To, but dont forget to remove the hand brake cable as well - this can be an @rse, even a bigger @rse getting it back on.

For me, when i did my Locker, I changed my brake shoes - as its a heck easier to do when there's no half shaft in the way ...

Oh, I also replaced both Rear Bearings at same time .... might as well, as everything is apart!! My local garage repleaces them (i supply the bearings/retainers) at ĆƒĘ’Ć¢ā‚¬Å”ƃā€šĆ‚Ā£20 a pop .... bargain!!

JalapeƱo, IISY?

For those that have fitted this what washers did you use? The ones in the kit?

The 2 washers that come with the lock rite are actually 'stop pins spacers' which sit between the pinion shaft block and the coupler side gear. You need to use the thin thrust washer from your diff but not the thick one. It becomes more clear when assembling! If you need any more help just ask.

Well I fit the diff with the lock right in today.:)

WOW is it weird to drive on the road! I was already struggling with the lack of power as I'm used to the TD5! It seems to all be working correctly altho I havent tested it off road yet but turning into junctions is something I'm going to have concentrate on!:(

Has anyone got any tips on how I should alter my driving style!!!

Chris

Hope everyones got on alright installing their lock rite. I've been out for a drive in my Jimny with the lock rite installed and its unoticable on open road, there is a very light clicking on roundabouts and tight bends but it makes a loudish clunk reversing on full lock driving on tarmac. Is this about right? Any comments would be appreciated.
