Martin: i used 50mm flat bar, which just fits between the radius arm mount and the chassis cross tube.
Here a pic of how the bracket is bolted on,
I am using 40nb pipe which is 48mm OD which just sits on the flat bar, it won't be strong enough with just one weld around the pipe to the flat bat, so a top gusset will be add an that's where the strength will come from.
I was also thinking about running a peace of flat bat between the 2 brackets along the chassis rails to help secure them and protect the chassis rail it self from rocks etc...
Hope this helps,
Andrew

In the top picture I guess the nuts on the end of the bolts are hard up against the floor pan?? There is certainly not room at the top for much. I would be concerned that the body will hit the bolt ends causing banging over rough ground?
I think a flat piece between the brackets would add a lot of strength as well

Arghh...there is more to those brackets than meets the eye there is no nut, is have tapped out the top holes to take the M10 bolt, then just chopped of the top of the bolt so it doesn't hit the floor pan.

Here's how I did mine using scaffold pipe and inch and a half by not quite sure but thick angle (recycled telephone exchange equipment frame).
Six inch length angle welded to front (behind front wheel) outrigger with two nuts welded to inside. then another length bolted to it long enough to stick out far enough for bar.
Rear bolted to rear outrigger (round one) captive nuts inside pipe, again long enough to stick out far enough.
Then stiched the scafold tube to the two protruding angles.
Unbolt, weld up, paint and refit.
Then cover with a liberal coat of mud to complete the effect!!
The angle iron brackets are fitted in the "V" position for maximum clearance and minimum "catchability".
Should have said these muontings only possible with the 30mm body lift I've fitted. Body lift cost about £15 I'll document it soon.
Cheers,
John.
