Today's job then?... ORA sill bars -
I've had them sitting in the garage for a while... in kit form...
A bit of experimenting until they looked right...
Tacked together...
Bit more fettling
Self supporting!
Before someone says it... not much ground clearance lost, as they sit the same height as the chassis
MIGed up and some gussets added...
And then use that one as a template for the other side...
Bit of 'polishing' tomorrow, and will then throw them in for powdercoating...

Weld-on Fella
Just need to grind and sand them a bit and then get them powdercoated - satin black* - and then grind the edges off the mounting plates and grind the chassis back, weld them on, and then cover the joins with Tetrosyl chassis tar paint...
* Then they can be touched up easily with black (Finnigan's) Smoothrite WHEN they get scratched... because they will... LOL

superb Work on the Jimny Dave,
I was on the DVLA website looking at a suitable reg plate for Our Jimny, and I must admit, S200KYP was very very appealing.
but....................
wimped out and bought L88 PLM instead.
Paul.

Thanks Paul, it's become a bit of an obsession!... I come from the land of Vitaras, been (ab)using them for the last twenty years, but now hooked on these little Jimnys...
We greenlane as a group of five Jimnys now -

haha, you don't see many modified Jimny's around here. a friend has a moderately modified Samurai, and of course I dabbled with Vitara's over the years (including an infamous assault on Marske Beach in the 16v).
I'm hoping as time goes on, and if we get along with the new Jimny, I might end up buying an older one to put "my own angle on" engine mods/swaps are of course something that appeals, but it'll be nice for one to modify something that, if I cock it up, I can still use something else to get to work instead.
Paul.
