Engine Oil was created by Dazcush
Hi guys,

Sorry for asking silly questions, but I just recently purchased a 2002 Jimny and am hoping to do an oil change. Was given fully synthetic Motul 5w30 engine oil and am wondering is this okay to use or am I better off going for 10w40 or is there much of a difference? I saw another post saying 10w-30 for the M13AA engine?

Darragh

Did you get the owner's manual with the car, there's a chart inside it showing which grades of oil are appropriate for whatever climate you happen to be in. I'm in the tropics with year round warm weather, so I'd go with the 10W40, if you're in a cooler climate the 5W30 might suit you better.

Suzuki recommend 0W20 but 5W30 is completely acceptable according to the handbook, and is what I use.

If you buy a genuine Suzuki filter, bear in mind there are about four possible part numbers that fit.  The one in mine is 16510-61A32, which is a bit longer than some and is probably for an M16 engine.  It also fits some marine outboard motors.

No there was no owner's manual in the car when I got it. I will go with the 5w30 living in an Irish climate it certainly isn't tropical unfortunately.

Thanks for your help.

That's great to know thank you. I got a blueprint oil filter adk82102 which will do the trick I hope!
