Stuck in gear was created by Cparky
Hello. I’ve just swapped my 1.3 for a1.6 out of liana. It’s a 2003 model Jimny. I installed new clutch too. With everything bolted back up I have found the car appears to be stuck in gear even though the gear stick is in neutral position which is how I left it before removing engine. I can’t seem to select 3rd or 4th gear at all. I had just wanted to roll the car forward a little. When installing the new engine I did manage to disengage the prop shaft on accident, the whole transmission came forward about 5 inches. But it’s back in and back where it should be. Really confused. Could anyone help please ?
thanks and kind regards

When the transmission moved was it a gentle motion that might have knocked something or was it a bit more violent that could have bent something like the gear lever? It certainly sounds like something is dislocated?

Check the gearstick linkage, particularly the small square rubber bushes. It sound more like the stick assembly than the box internals.
I take it the clutch works as it should?

Yeah was thinking that or the cable is bound up.Check the gearstick linkage, particularly the small square rubber bushes. It sound more like the stick assembly than the box internals.
