2din radio in 2006 jimny (convertor ? ) was created by Borre
hello, I am try in to put a 2din radio (Pioneer DEH-S720BT 2DIN radio)
into my 2006 jimny.
after removing the plastic case which contains a tray and a 1din radio space.
there is enough room for the radio. but not for the metal case that came with radio.
i have about 105mm of height (and 185 width) in my jimny.
the metal casing of the radio has a height of 112mm and width of 182mm
so the height wont fit. but the metal casing is much bigger than the radio it self.
(radio has a height of 100mm)
so I think I need a different radio casing.
I found this one.
www.amazon.nl/Audioproject-A145-universe...6576038&sr=8-1-fkmr1
which has a outside size of 182 x 103, that could it my jimny.
But has some extra space on left and right.
And how could I mount this into the jimny?
Is there some plastic casing like this that could fit a 2din radio?
(instead of 1din and a tray, if I remove the tray, the space is to narrow for a radio.)

The standard sort of not quite double din units are held in with a bracket bolted directly to the chassis of the radio and the four holes in the dash that you have your tray fastened to. I don't know if these bracket are available separately or what their part numbers are but it might be worth having a word with Martin in the forum shop to see what he is able to supply.

My 2011 Jimny was fitted with the standard radio which was double DIN, but with rounded corners, apparently this is the unusual to have rounded corners on most cars. I found an Xtrons Android double DIN unit which was a perfect fit.
However, your Jimny seems to have a single DIN unit with tray underneath, I am not sure if this was standard for your year or if it was a mod?
Google Jimny double DIN radio to see what will fit.
