strange noise. was created by 1066Boy
Here is one for you clever people. Strange noise from driver side front wheel. Its not a knock or heavy thump more of a loud creak.
did it first a few months ago during some wet weather but with the long dry spell we have had for the last few weeks its been silent.
Washed the car today and it rained. Its back louder than ever. If I drive slowly in 1st gear up the rough track at work it dose it as the front axle flexes. I can make it do it by driving forward and then braking, just one click. then reverse and brake, just one click again. Only dose it on the road if I corner (right hand) so unload the weight on that wheel and then it dose it when it loads up again. If you have heard a landrover dislocate a rear spring off road you will know the sort of sound I mean. I have checked everything I can think off but cant find any movement any ware. Ideas please.

thats sort of my thinking jack. I can feel it through the floor when it happens. The thing that is throwing me is it only seams to happen in damp/wet conditions

Is the panhard rod bolted up good and tight? Mine was ratchet tight and made all kinds of odd noise once barred tight to the specified ft it has been silent?

I've just got rid of a creake from front drivers side mate.
I changed bearings, all rubber bits and it still did it.
I took springs out and put half dozen 1" bits of hose pipe round top coil, tight fit needed grease and channel grips to get them on. This made the coil sit a bit tighter at the top.
Went for a spin and the noise has gone.

Give your radius arm bolts a little nip up and see if that solves it.

Thinking about it today, I fitted a front diff guard a few months back, the type that bolts one side to the radius arm mount. If its not tight enough the noise would probly be amplified by the big lump of steel clamped to the diff.

Thats a good call actually...
Mine makes similar creaky noises sometimes (but it makes so many other noises its hard to tell!) I have a JB diff guard also, and creaking started after that i think. Doesnt happen unless REALLY offroading tho. My radius arms are KAP with superpro bushes, so should be good. bolts are not mega tight as most use locknuts so i wanted them to be flexible a wee bit.

You were spot on. drivers side rear bolt of the two was not loose but I was able to get a complete turn on it.
Did it lunchtime and it was all quiet on the way home. Fingers crossed its as simple as that. Thanks for the idea.
