Hi Guys,

Just to make you aware that even on a brand new 2013 plate Jimny you still get a small wobble I had it for a year and it started off with 8 miles on the clock and it was fine, its now done 1400 miles, been to Scotland and back and started to get the wobble so had the front tyres replaced, as they needed it and the alignment was done and its gone. :)

You wore a set of front tyres out in 1400 miles?

Well done that man!

Just had the tyres on my jimny replaced as the Bridgestone duellers that were on when I bought it were perished, had conti 4x4 contact fitted as most of my miles are on road with some farm tracks and light off roading around shoots etc.
Car was fine before now with the new tyres it's developed a nasty wobble between 45-50mph. Nothing that makes me think it's gonna kill me mind, just not very comfortable on a 600mile trip to Cumbria.
Wondering why it's started doing it, could over inflation by the garage have anything to do with it?

I would think they havnt balanced them up correctly .or you have a slightly bent wheel that was on the back and is now on the front . . But would put money on there out of balence

I would bet on over inflation, most garages do not realise how low they should be (23 psi)

I recently started experiencing terrible wobble under braking. I didn't realise at the time, but it started just after I over-inflated my tyres. Returning them to a more sensible pressure solves the issue.

So after checking the tyres they were at 36 rear and 30 front, they are 26 all round now and doesn't seem to have made any difference. Will go down to 23 on the front tomorrow but guessing 3psi isn't going to change all that much. Guess it's back to get them balanced again.

Hello there i just bought a jimmy year 1999.The engine is perfect..

the main problem i have is that when i go 80 mph the steering shakes as well as the body..

Can i know what the problem is.. Thanking you very much for your precious times.

Infact i have tires size 205)70) R15.
Do you think that the tyre may be causing this problem.
By the way i live in mauritius and the availability of spare parts for jimmy is rare..

Regards
Rakesh

If it only shakes at 80mph I would slow down and be happy as most jimnys shake between 30-50

Me too! I'm not sure I would want to do 80 mph in any Jimny!

Your ears will bleed from the noise and the fuel you'd use would be terrible!

Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread!

I have listed everything in here that could be a cause, and will work through them all...
