Ipod interface was created by Caulkheader
Hi -

I have just purchased a 2009 Jimny. It has the factory fitted Clarion radio / CD head unit.

I want to use an Ipod, Suzuki do a lead but its coming in at £100 (!). Does any of you know of a supplier other than Suzuki who can do a lead to connect an Ipod or MP3 player to the unit via the CD changer port.

Cheers

John

I use the Belkin Tunecast which you can get from Halfords no wiring up required and you can use it in any vehicle you are in

I've been wondering about that too. There are two types of interface, one is just a cable from the earphone socket of the ipod to an aux in socket on the stereo, usually the same 3.5mm jack.

The other one is a full interface box that lets the stereo control and charge the ipod at the same time, that's the expensive one. Anyone have a picture of the back of the stereo head unit? Or a diagram? To see the ports on the back.

Sony produced an interface for their radios that does exactly what you want.
They go for about £15 on eBay, work very well, I have one wired in to my Sony, with the ipod in the glovebox
I don't know if it would work with a Clarion though, likely the control connections are different

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Does anyone here know if the Clarion unit in the '09 Jimnys has a CeNet socket, a square multi pin? If so I can get the interface of ebay for about £35 instead of £100 via suzuki.
