you say it a switch for 4low. it might be worth checking connections on the box etc to make sure something hasnt come adrift.

I know you said you done everything in the manual, but you are pressing the clutch in while you are trying to change?? there is a fuse for the 4x4 system, might be worth a check other than that ive no other ideas
