Central locking not working remotely

We inherited our Jimny from my wife's dad. It's over 20 years old an still has only 56000 on the clock. Recent central locking problems brought me to read up on this site and others but none of the threads quite got there for me. The knowledge gained led me there eventually and the answer was really simple. The system was all working with the key in the driver's side but the remote was causing clicking and some movement of the lock buttons but not enough to lock or unlock. It turned out the motor driven rod wasn't fixed to the main  locking rod as the grub screws had worked loose. Tightening them up has fixed the problem but I'll probably have to revisit them to add some Loctite.

Welcome to the forum and well done on fixing the remote central locking, that is very likely a new issue not seen before.

Apart from the posts you might want to look in the BigJimny Wiki if you haven't done already, there is lots of good advice in there when trying to fix problems.

Of course you can post new questions if you are stuck and just want to know where to look.
