Afternoon all,
Finally got Little Jim in for a bit of welding, just had some pics sent through, and nothing to weld to!! What are peoples thoughts here? Get a front end off another and just replace the lot?

Would possibly more cost effective to get a good used one.
Or if you have polish friends get a new genuine Suzuki brought in from Poland

That is my thought. If I can get a good front end and just have this crap cut off and replaced.

Way better cars than this ends up in Norwegian scrap yards but our prices are beyond anything you're used too..
just an example:
finndel.no/bilinfo.aspx?f=552&bnr=25047
And another one:
www.bruktdel.no/nbf/Delebiler/suzuki/jim...sobjekt_/3002-83831/
Is there no other european markets that treat the suzukis for rust when new?

I thought this was in decent condition, was just getting the welding done ready for a coat of underseal. Bit fed up now!

Ugh, that does seem particularly bad. My 1999 Jim wasn't that badly shot and its a fair few years older.
You could try to fix that, but as you say, there is very little to weld to on that one so it may have to be a new slam panel (around £300 I think?). May be worth stripping the front end of the car (headlights and bumper) to really see what is going on - screwdriver the heck out of it to see what you really have left. A lot of the metal on the photos appears quite flakey and loose.
I think Riccy on this forum had a really cool way of dealing with the rust he had on his truck 'Ulysses' - cut it all out and put in some fairly hefty metal girders to replace the existing metal supports - could be a way of doing it if you can show someone the photos from his thread and get them to replicate it?

At the minute, I'm ready for taking the bits off and selling it as a project. Payed quite a bit for it a couple of years ago thinking it was a nice one, and put some money into it. Need to have a sleep on it (and a look at some other 4x4s!)

You could just make something out of rectangle box section
Only needs the bottom section.
Doesn't need to be standard

Something like this
Don't give up hope
100x60x3mm around £30 for metal
You can just lift from original mounts
Make a spacers like body lift blocks
Or even skateboard wheels
Just use your imagination
