Tyre & Wheel Advice needed!

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy some new tyres and rims from another forum user but need some advise really quickly.

The ones I'd like are:

Hankook Dynapro MT in 215/75/15 on Negative Offset Rims.

Now, what I need to know is will these be OK to put on my Jimny that has not been lifted or modded in anyway? I understand I may have to remove the mudguards incase they rub (who needs mudguards anyway).

WIll I need to get new wheel nuts or anything? Currently have just the standard OZ Alloys that most Jimnys were fitted with (shown in my profile).

Am I right in thinking that Negative Offset just means that the tyres will just stick out from the side of my Jimny a little?

Advise really needed quickly as I don't want to mess the seller around.

Many thanks!

Steve :)

PS: Sorry to post this in two sections of the forum but I need advise really quickly!

Yes they will give your Jimny a wider stance if they are steel wheels you will need new nuts as for the fit I'm sure they will be ok but hope someone with the same tyre could confirm ;)

I Have the exact tires model with the same size you are asking about.
My Jimny is from 2001 with 2" ironman lift, 30mm spacers and -5 ET steel rims. The front bumper and over-fender were cut a little to make room. With this config they were rubbing on maximum flex against the interior arch. Mostly on the back, but on 2 ocasions, also on the.

Now, I cut the overfenders completely together with the fender until the mark of the old overfender and installed some steel reinforced rubber overfenders. It doesn't rub anymore. But also, I think 30" fits also now. 31" doesn't.

Any idea what type or size of nuts I need to get for the steel rims when changing from the alloys?

Initially I went with 19mm, but then I changed them with 21mm and it's definitely much better.
So I recommend 21mm

Is that before you had the lift kit installed?

I really need to know if I can get away with these tyres and rims without a lift kit (don't have the money for that at the moment)?

2" ironman was installed from before I git the tires. So in the pic, the lift was installed. You can use a body lift which I don't recommend. Or make very good friends with the grinder :))

Standard rims are the key. Offset rims or wheel spacers move the wheel away from the optimum position in the arch, so often lead to rubbing issues.
However 215/75r15 non-remould will fit a standard Jimny on standard rims with minimal issues.
