I was thinking of the grinder or a hacksaw down the join. Are the two sides held with a nut and bolt or is one threaded or have a welded nut for a bolt to go in. I need to preserve the end that is staying.
I'd still like a straight system!!

Aha, so there are welded-on nuts. Thanks Mark. Which side do you know?? I'd guess on the muffler side. I ask cos I might dremel the heads of the bolts off (what's left of them hehehehehe - should take only minutes). The stuff was flaking away to the touch. If I put a hammer to this the remaining pipe ain't gonna survive.

What, with a spanner ............there is nowt left to put a spanner on with this rot box. LMAO
I'll order a box next week when my ship comes in then as soon as this is off I can dive in to the rust in that area before replacing it.

Ah yes I see what you are getting at. I can go with heating to break the bond - you choose impleemnts like I do, torch and hammer. Hehehehehe. Gottit now! It's what I would do but I think once the heads are off the bolts the thing will come away peaceably.
