Standard yes
But who has a standard off-roader :-)
The sj would benift from a spring conversion but hey the jimny will want a lift to so its swings and roundabouts

Id go for a jimny but I would say that as that's what I drive. They already have coil springs, power steering and is a lot quieter, but the transfer box isn't as strong as an sj box.
Plus side of an sj is that they are a fair bit cheaper to buy, but I'd still have the jimny. IMO

I have both and IMO comfort and living with every day Jimny every time but true beat it with a stick off roader SJ will take some beating i reckon biggest mistake Suzuki made was when they chaged the way they made there chassis SJ chassis 2 lenghts of box section end to end Jimny half box half bent tin just seemed to me a bit of a mish mash to save a few pence the Sj just feels totally solid but that is only my take on it

SJ is much more responding to mods than Jimny, so in that light SJ is better than the Jim, but of course both can be modded to equal level. And SJ's being older you automatically drive them harder than a newer Jimny, so that gives them a slight edge over a Jim in the trail too!

I would also pick a Jim over an SJ just because it's newer(almost no rust, better ride quality, very quiet, coil sprung etc.)
