Rattling Jimny was created by JW93
I've been putting up with a particular rattle for awhile now (well about 2 days) but its now really starting to bug me everytime i drive.
When my Jimny reaches over 3000 revs it begins to make a rattling noise, it does it whilst in motion and whilst stationary. I've had someone else rev poor little jimny and i cannot see anything that is loose, my first thought was that its exhaust was loose but after a breif investigation ive ruled that out (for now)!!
Any suggestions?
Cheers

what sort of rattle
does it sound like
1.) a couple of 5 pences in a tin
or
2.) a rattle snake
or something else
if it's 1.) it's almost certainly the heat shield around the cat - simply grind the bolts and rip it off, doesn't do any harm

Penny to a pinch of sh** it is the heat shield around the cat (I'm more of a dog person anyway).
If you can't get it off, I had problems, I rammed a 99p exhaust bandage inbetween the cat and the shield. Worked a treat!

It,ll definitely be the heatsheild on the cat, I've got a bit of this round mine, buckle at the top to stop it catching.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

The heatshield is the silver tin cover, I drilled through mine and self tappered it to the flange on the catalyst at the front

I've got the same problem. So ripped heat shield off and it still there. It's coming from inside my cat so time for new one
