Test placement before making brackets and painting it all black.

I'm not sure if it's maybe a bit much, what do you guys think? Too tall?

It's fairly light so I'm not worried about weight. But I don't want to look like a numpty ...

Looks good, but as you say a bit too tall. With stuff in it however, it would look great :-)

How is it for wind noise? I found mine was terrible without the lightbar and some waffle boards on

I'll second that, it's a great idea for a roof rack but a little too tall at the moment for my taste, but if u are happy go with it.

Strangely I also found the addition of a light bar on the front of my rack has reduced the wind noise considerably. Was not that bad before, but both the wife and myself have noticed the extra silence.

I think that looks great. Don't think it will look too tall once loaded up.

I quite like that and everything inside should be well secured though I might put a solid deflection plate round the front to aid windage?

Thanks all.

No idea re wind noise yet as I've still to make the brackets. I do plan to fit a deflector also but held off whilst I thought about the height.

I've asked on a FB group also and poured over photos of other examples and have to accept, with great sadness over all the extra work, that it is indeed too tall :(

So over the next couple of days I'm going to drop the height right down and lengthen the top loop so there's around a 45 degree angle for the deflector.

In fairness it'll spend most of its time empty or with just a buggy in it.

Next up - I've discovered my local off road club requires front recovery points to be fitted. A set of recovery points looked to be around £80 but a chap was selling front winch plates with recovery points for £120. No brainer really.

Only problem is I'm thinking I'll need to fit a winch now ....

Nothing good used locally has me eyeing up the atv style 4500lb ones available.

Lots of reading tells me that many people consider 6000lb to be the minimal but some folks have used a 4500lb winch with success.

The 4500lb is also only around 10kg in weight which seems reasonable.

Decisions eh

That is far better, IMO. ;)

The proportions look spot on for the car now.

Long time of just using the jimny but I've finally gotten round to another improvement- a stereo! It didn't come with one. Thought I'd try one of the cheap chinese style ones and bought this for under £20 new.

Very impressed. I bought this ugly one as I think it looks undesirable to thieves. But despite how it looks it sounds great and does bluetooth streaming and handsfree.

Only one of my speakers works though which is a bummer. Rat pee seems to have corroded the drivers side one to death.

I've also bought a winch, and an alarm that should work the central locking. Hoping to fit those in the next couple of weeks
