Front HD (standard length) ‘4x4Outlet’ (JimnyBits!) Panhard Rod now fitted too...

Angle grinder to cut the chassis-end bolt off again... surprised how rusty this Jim is, given it’s a year younger than the blue S200KYS, and has been on the road, not off it!...

And that's it for this one... honest! ;)

What is this "mini valet" of which you speak? Sounds suspicious!

The hand-car-wash next to the garage / MOT testers, it's £7 to wash a 4x4, or £10 for S200KYS when it's all muddied up after a good greenlaning trip...

A "mini-valet" - cleaned inside and out, plastics all shiny, carpets hoovered, windows cleaned in and out, mats washed, free air-freshener, etc... is £20 :)

No....
Remove the grime, don't do the crime bring back the shine :D

The Gold Jimny let me down last week :(

I was going to have my usual Wednesday off in the garage and needed some sanding disks from the local Screwfix on the Tuesday afternoon, with my member of staff due to finish at 6pm, I shot off at 5:30pm and... got half way there before the charge (battery) light came on and she then started running hot... a fan belt had gone :( So I limped into Screwfix's nice secure compound car park and collected my bits and let them know I'd had to leave it there overnight... I than rang my daughter to pick me up as quickly as possible to get back to the shop...

I considered fixing it in the car park but - luckily - decided to get my friendly recovery firm (100 yards up the road on the corner to mine as you turn into our road) to go and get it for me and drop it on my drive :)

So, yesterday - Sunday - I got round to fixing it...

The offending mangled belt :(

From experience - of watching / helping Brett change one of his on the side of the road once, I remembered it being easier to whip the radiator out to get to the belts, more room to work and easier to see what you're doing ;)

New belts ready to go on, figured I might as well change them both (and I also bought another set to go in the blue S200KYS too)

The tensioner needs to be loosened off to get to the second belt behind the first which was still intact,

NOOooo... good job (1) I wasn't doing this in Screwfix's carpark, and (2) I had my support network (the lads) on Whatsapp to talk to on the drive ;) ... is that a Torx bolt on the alternator swivel?!

With the old belt popped off I could then get to replace both the belts and tighten everyting back up again... With the new second (alternator and water pump) belt in place, that Torx bolt is tight under the belt?! A design flaw? Surely not... ;)

A distraction fro the job... cooked brekkie!

With that devoured I was soon outside again to finish off tensioning the belts and doing up the nuts and bolts, before...

Refitting the radiator and pipes and refilling with a nice strong anti-freeze to water mix (50/50)

And then...

Out for a testdrive! Up to normal water operating temperature and a nice fast run to make sure everything was in order...

:)

That's what the registration number database pulled up and confirmed as right, as I went to the counter in Halfords with both types to ask what the difference was...
