for light green laning and shooting id go with this kit from bits4vits

this way you have the standard soft and supple jimny suspension and as for fitting its one of the easiest thing to do on a jimny

If you can afford it, I would go for the Trialmaster 2" comfort kit. IMO this will gives the best ride quality (better than standard) and good on road handling.

If you are on a tight budget then the Bits4vits spacer kit is a popular option. It gives a slightly harder ride than standard.

Fitting is not too bad only a few bolts on the shock absorbers to undo. Good trolley jack and axle stands required. If you look you find a detailed fitting procedure by dirtydogz. The lower rear shock mounts can be tricky. Fit bottom bolt first before attaching at the top, otherwise you might cross thread the thread on the axle. You can buy rear shock relocation brackets (part of the bits4vits spacer kit) which also over come this issue.

I am well pleased with my Trialmaster kit, completely transformed the ride and performance.

Don't forget that if you go to 2" you should also consider fitting the castor correction bushes. I have yet to do mine. Steering is a little vague but you can live with it.

I did a review a while back on my 2" lift. I will be updating it soon.

Here you go jfkenpoman. I'll save you the trouble of looking them up.

About £150 for the bits4vits spacer kit and about £600 for the Trailmaster kit. Various other kits are also available. Another popular kit is available from Jimnybits kit at about £350

IMO go for one of the kits with replacement shox and springs rather than the spacer kit if you can.

ta paul have been looking lol the 2" lift kit + correction bushes works out at 440 ish :blink:

With the 150 quid ish bits4vits kit you probably wouldnt need the corrected arms as it 1-3/4 ''

Hi chrisharman

No to both. Rear shock relocation brackets do three things.

1) Lengthen the shock, so only needed with spacer kits as these retain standard shocks.
2) Make fitting rear shox easier. A lot or people recommend them to make the job easier, but they are not essential if you are careful and use good quality shocks
3) Some cheaper shox have poor quality lower rubber bushes and can pull out. I have come across this issue in the past when replacing standard shock. Shouldn't be a problem with the 2" shox.

Longer brake hoses only required if you go to 3" lift. Care needs to be taken to unclip the standard hose when dropping the axle to make sure the hose is not damaged.

Before I brought Trialmaster kit, I did have a ride in a 3" Jimnybits lift; 2" jimnybits lift and one fitted with the spacer kit. All were fine, but did not give the ride quality of the Trialmaster. The next best was the 3" Jimnybits lift.

Very popular choice chrisharman.

Meant to say, that access to a angle grinder might be useful, as the top nuts on the front shox can rust and be difficult to remove, unless you a nice little grinder.

i second that. first thing id do is just try and undo them to see what ur up against.if you losen them check you can losen the rear top bolts to.
