Hello,New here and a new Jimny owner. Well the Jimny is not exactly new. It's 2002 and has rolled some 215tkm. Absolute bare bones version with no powers steering, abs, ac or anything. Not even a carpet on the floor. Having been driving electric cars for a few years the Jimny absolutely feels like you are operating a machine. I love it. And there are lots of similiarities to my first ever car, 1991 Nissan Sunny.
The car has a reasonable service history but last 10 years it has not been driven too much. It had a little misfire issue but changing the spark plugs got rid of that. There is also a very much steering wobble when driving straight at 70-80km/h. It goes away with speed (or slowing) and steering even just a little bit also seems to help.I have the king ping bearings and seals on order and hopefully next week I have time to change them.
Even with the little issues (or because of them?) I havent been this exited about a car in years. As soon as I got it home I installed a roof rack, the car did not have the roof railings so I just went trough the roof with bolts and have the rack resting on a generic square roof bars. No leaks so far...😬I also got some Toyo Open country AT3 tyres in 195/80 on a 15 inch mangels that came with the car. I hope I can use them all year but the Finnish winter might change my mind. Oh, and did a little styling to the orginal silver spare wheel cover. Just some black spray paint but I did a little structure with undercoating spray. It now matches the black bumbers pretty well. Wife also got some sweet Cult surf seatcovers to give a little vibe.
Still gonna change all the oils and maybe add a led bar. Bumber or roof? And something needs to be done to the steering wheel as it's grumbling and twisting around the metal frame... I will try to post here anything interesting I might do to and/or with the Jimny.
Cheers!
