I took the plunge and bought a CB radio. I had been looking at small units to put in the little panel between the steering wheel and door. Then last week at the quarry I saw someone's hand held with a car kit and went for that.
Midland 42 DS Adventure Pack
I also bought the bar mount in addition. Glad I did now as it works better for me than the gutter mount included. I went for the full size Orbitor a 1.55m long as it didn't cost any more than the shorter one.
Opted for the bar mount to use with a roof bar, I can leave the aerial mount on the roof bar, this will make it a quick job to fit and remove the CB aerial. (This just clears the garage door, so I can leave it in place for as long or little as I like).
Using a sticky backed cable tie mount with two magnets attached, tucks the coax nicely under the gutter.
A very handy gap in the out rubber seal.
Nice fit without pinching the coax.
Ran out of the cable tie mounts so went and got some self adhesive cable clips. When I remove the roof bar and aerial mount I can just unclip the coax.
Boing!

I very nearly bought a Midland hand held for the last meet so I could use it for spotter duties but I got my old one going instead. Wouldn't mind a bit of a write up on yours once you have used it in anger as the versatility appeals to me in principle.

I'll be meeting the Northwest Overland group on Wednesday night, just the monthly club meet at the pub, but that will probably be the first time I get to try it out in the car park lol. At first I thought it might have been too cumbersome to use in the car, but with the car kit connected it's not much bigger than a standard mic.
I'll let you know when I've us2s it properly.

Just as a quick size comparison here is the Midland handheld next to a mic that I made into an air freshener.

Yesterday, I fitted my front Jimnybits recovery points. Didn't take as long as I expected overall, the slowest part is cutting the bumper slots. Then keep trial fitting and trimming, trial fitting and trimming again and again and again and on and on. You get the picture.
Once you have the first slots in place and can then see the RP centre lines, it is easy to judge how much left and right you need to trim. The harder part was working out how to vertically position the slots, that's the trial and error bit.
Stands out well against the dirt. Loosely held in place.
All bolted up.
First undersized slots cut.

Until very recently we had shackles on the front...until I realised that a "clunk" we had going around corners was the shackle sliding sideways in the bracket.

Soeley, did the plastic airscoop refit or was it consigned to the bin?
Thanks for all the photos, this could help with my plans for a front towbar.

Chris, It went back on, but the two lower clips were a pain to fit back in place. But overall I think the recovery points would be easier to fit with removed.

Just realised I never posted about the Jimnybits rear recovery points. I fitted these in October just in time for the BigJimny meet.
I also got the Machine Mart Bridle as recommended by a few people on here. I did buy some rated bow-shackles though as the ones supplied weren't.
