Being a complete newbie to 4x4, it turned out to be a very worthwhile experience. I was planing on doing something like that, but it was a present for my 50th. A few key points stuck with me from that. I would highly recommend doing something similar.

Yeah very cool stuff that!

What 4x4 were you driving then? And what were the main things you took away from the training? Thanks.

It was a 90 minute drive in a Defender 90 that I shared with my eldest son. In the Defender with it having anti stall was to keep both feet off the peddles and flat on the floor. Obviously in the Jimny I've just kept my clutch foot flat on the floor. Also when driving at an angle (sideways lean) to keep the steering wheel in the dead ahead position as intuition wants you to steer up the embankment. And when going through deep water to go fast enough to create the bow wave.

None of these seems obvious when you have only ever driven road cars.

Fitted the transfer box guard on Sunday. Easy job with it up on the ramps. It weighs 11kg altogether. All bolts go through existing holes.

Supplied bracket for left side.

Two bolts bolted down for right hand side.

Close up of the one to the rear.

And forward one.

Left side.

From the rear.

Right side.
