Replied by biggaz on topic Re:Ooky's new boots ... almost there !!!
You still on 215's? How do you find them in the mud... you think they would be better 235's or larger?Or you think they dont need to be wider....

215's are more than enough for the sort of off-road we do.
Thought about going to 235's but cannot see the benefit (unless I upgrade to special tracks).
In the mud, they really dig their way through mud with ease.

I think even if I get the rock lobster fitted, it will be to just improve the current drive ability rather than to go larger

You must have had fun to get it that muddy - I'd like to have a trip over onto the Plains - maybe in the summer we'll take the camping kit and spend a few days over your way and bring our friends along for a few days laning.

I bet that'll take some time with the pressure washer won't it?

Yes, I'll let you know how long it takes... Incidentally, my mate's jeep Cherokee 4litre limited developed an electrical fault so the pint sized jimny hauled him and his family almost 5 miles across the training area and a further 18 miles home via the A303. At one stage, I was in 4low doing 15 mph pulling him up a hill towards Stonehenge. Aside from getting very hot, the jimnys performance was faultless.
There was a major pre-deployment exercise in the plain today, chinooks and merlons flying knap of the land, and large movements of armour and logistics so most of the training area was out of bounds. We had to venture over onto the West training area / Imber perimeter.
It was about 1 degree with a windchill of -5. A lot of the water was frozen so the jimny had to smash it's way through sheet ice.
I've just been back out and the temp is now -5 and with the troop movements, too dangerous to be on the Plain.
It's also difficult to take video when it's dark !!!
