That looks brill mate, I like the tub style which I was going to go for but need mine flat for the roof tent.. The fuel cans buy the way are not as big as they look, each one is only 1.75 US Gallons (3.8 UK Ltrs) so only just over the weight of a 5ltr can we all carry and are made to the highest standards and safety reqs, they are guaranteed not to leak.

The best thing about the big racks is if it dont fit in the boot just thow it on top and strap it down iv had alsorts on mine just have to make shore it fits in carparks

I have seen a roof tent on a Jimny before which is where I got the idea from lol. According to the manual the roof weight is 40k, I presume that is on the standard manufacture rails with added cross bars..

The difference between Gross weight and the unladen weight is 262kg so I reckon as long as I dont go mad I should be ok..

Your right on the standed roof rack as it has plastic mounts to the roof but seeing as ours are bolted to the roof it can may be take more depends how strong the the sides of the roof are

Deffo, the original rails are totally plastic on the mounting points and really poor in quality, i think they are more cosmetic than fully functional.

Matt placed a long strip of steel across the roof first then added a third leg to help spread the load over a longer surface which should make it even stronger
