How does the red colour hold out?

When we were looking for a Jimny, we found a lovely red one. The guy who was selling it didn't stop running on about how much of a job it was to get back to red as it faded so badly and that he had to get someone in to mop it to get it looking half decent!

That put us off the sale!

How have you found it?

My red ones on a Y reg and its fine, although I have seen a 51plate red jimny that was horrible, all pink and no shine to it.

Hello
Mine is 2004 and the paint/colour depth is very good (possibly garaged by previous owner). I do know that Red is more subject to fading and discolouration than other colours due to pigments.
A good thing to look at maybe some sort of protective coating to to preserve colour (but 4wdriving and stretches etc may not make this a good option).
Cheers
