Haven't updated for a while been having issues with the zooks engine getting too hot.

After replacing the thermostat/ water pump and radiator cap the zook decided that was enough and blew the head gasket.

So time to fill everyone in on the Jim.

First this happened

Top radiator hose split lost coolant and cooked motor ( been over heating for a while now and was in the process of tracking it )

Coming close to the end of my holidays I needed to do something ASAP as the zooks my daily.

And I found this !

Then this happened

This is the result of trying to get the crank bolt out with a socket and a long handle - bench gave way

Got the motor in, missed a earth so had to trace back and find it.

Started her sat night n did a quick lap all was good.

Sunday this happened

O ring split on an injector ( used 1.3 instead of 1.8 injectors so just swapped them to the 1.8 )

Fixed, not viscus fan has died new ones on order !

This has turned into an awesome Jimjam!

It amazes me how you Aussies get out there so much and do it, I need to get off my backside and get out in the UK a lot more!

Was the viscous the cause of the overheating?

I have a scanguage in mine do I can see what the exact temperature is, the car's guage doesn't go up past half way until it's really hot!

Cheers mate, the viscus fan defiantly contributed and was eventually the final nail in the coffin.
I bought a WIFI OBD scan tool which I can connect to my iphone.

I watched the temprature on a 30min highway drive last night.
The coolant rose to 97-101 degrees then dropped back to around 90 degrees and stayed there which tells me everything must be working.

The 1.8 on the highway is awesome first time I've ever overtaken cars up hill !

Sounds good then!

My twin cam 1.3 Jimny never really goes above 97'c on a long uphill stretch of motorway in our summer, but my 1.5 Ignis Sport can go to 98-99'c in the summer if I'm on a long uphill climb on a motorway.

Have a check of your radiator too as I found mine was clogged and it sat at 104'c on a long uphill climb on a motorway. I couldn't clean it out enough to be happy so bought a new one to be on the safe side.

I would just keep an eye on it for a while and perhaps invest in a scanguage that can be permanently plugged in, so you don't have to think about connecting your phone interface bits. It's always there at a glance then to spot early on any trouble as you get to know what temperature it ought to be in differing circumstances.

Something positive came from you frying your 1.3 though eh!
