Just a quick 'heads up' those of you who sleep in your Jimnys..

I know of a few people who have had to replace the rubber trim around door /window frames because of the condensation - from all the breathing in a confined space.
Caravans, on the other hand, have reasonable ventilation.

Make sure you open windows just a little to avoid the same troubles. - you may, however, need another blanket !

thanks for that heads-up. I have weather shields fitted to both doors so I can keep the windows open without getting wet. Here is Queensland cold isn't an issue. :D

I bought and received an ORA transfer swap kit recently. Today I set up the case ready for installation using the Big Jimny instructions. Very easy to install. I still need to find a front shaft before the swap can take place.

Just standard 1.3 gears, Non VVT gearbox ix going in to replace the lower geared VVT box and the lower 4.3 diff ratio found in the VVT Jimny. About 16% lower than stock. I run 235/75R15s so it should end up about 6% lower than stock if my calculations have been correct.

Started the gearbox and transfer swap on Saturday, got everything apart except for the gearbox which is unbolted and ready to come out. Sunday my nephew Jack came around to give me a hand putting it all back together.

Transfer out. I removed the middle section of the exhaust to help the gearbox clear everything.

I forgot to drain the oil and made a mess when I pulled the jack shaft.

Shifter boot is unbolted

Jimny electric on right

Jimny electric on Left

The complete driveline that's going in

Back into it Sunday. Pulled the gearbox, compared it to new and realised that there was going to be some shift mechanism issues. As it turned out the rear gearbox mount is different so I used the Mark III Jimny mount but had to re-drill a couple of holes.

Both gearboxes are very different from the bell back.

Mark III back, Mark II front

Reverse sender plug wasn't compatible so RC parts to the rescue.

Transfer mounted :D

I need to make a mount for the shifter mech.

The only difficult part to this swap is the fact that I'm also swapping the gearbox. Mounting of the actual transfer has been a breeze. Now fingers crossed the box and case have no internal issues.

Without going and measuring them, I think the Original shaft is too short. The replacement is an SJ front shaft.

With the ORA kit the original Samurai transfer box rear flange is used and therefore the Jimny prop will not bolt up to it as it is the wrong shape for a CV prop, and also its too short. With the Measson kit you get a new rear output flange which allows the original Jimny prop to bolt straight to the Samurai transfer box and it also corrects the propshaft length issue.
On my rear prop I had an ali spacer/adaptor made that bolts to the Sammi flange but takes an original Jimny prop.

Much better explanation than my lame effort. Cheers

Have been doing some paving in a townhouse courtyard, filled the trailer with soil and concrete, went to the tip and dumped the rubbish today. For those that think a Jimny won't pull much weight here's the weigh bridge docket. Note the Gross Weight.

As soon as I dumped the 480kg (Nett waste weight) I went and loaded up 500kg of 10mm Concrete mix and three 20kg bags of cement + tools.

Yeah my gears do help, I don't dump the clutch or ride it, she'll happily pull all day long. Wish I could say the same about the mrs.

This will be handy on the job. I plan to set it up so it can be used front or rear.

Dynamic Power 12V 3000LBS / 1361KG Electric Winch With Wireless Remote

Quick Overview
- Super Big Power up to Max. 2400W, 30Kpa
- Powerful 1361kg Pulling Power (will double that with a snatch block, plenty for my needs)
- Portable, with Built-in Carrying Handle and Quick-Attach Mounting Plate

Went out on the 2nd Jimny Driver's Day, camped overnight.
