i just noticed that theres a slight amount of oily grease coming out of the drivers side swivel joint. i jacked the wheel off the ground and theres some very slight play when i rock the wheel with a hand on top / bottom.
is this the kingpin bearings ?
otherwise the car drives fine, no steering or wheel wobble at all ?

It does sound like it.

Get an assistant to press the brakes as you wobble the wheel. If it still wobbles its the kingpins and if it stops then its the wheel bearing (I think that's the rule? )

When you replace the kingpin bearings and re-pack it all with grease, I'd go to the trouble of fitting all new seals to the steering knuckles, I have posted the part numbers in the past, so have a look back and they're there to make life easier at the dealers.

Also, do the axle tube seals, they're all easy, just time consuming, but not as bad as an SJ as there's less parts to the knuckle.

Use Hylomar ble instant gasket on any joining faces after rubbing them down with emory and take advice given by Martin in the past about the automatic freewheeling hubs and their seals.

The grease coming out of the swivel could be partly diff oil mixed with CV grease if the axle tune seals are leaking.

I've just taken to replacing the lot whilst it's apart to save me having to keep taking it apart!!!

Get what you can from Martin - sorry Martin, forgot about the shop - and anything else I can dig out the part no's for if you can't find them on a previous post.
