Hi, Ok looks like im a few steps forward with this issue.

A member posted mentioning taking off the hubs and see if 1 is in and the other is out, this seems to be the case, when I pushed the centre part in of the vac hub, I never get the sound anymore, steering feels great, done 100 miles today and not a sound anywhere.

here's a pic of the hubs

LEFT:

RIGHT:

So what does this mean? 1 front wheel is engaged during 2wd? I tested going into 4x4, then went back to 2wd, I then got the sound again? and the hubs are in the same configuration as the pics above.

Kind regards
Michael

Ok. so the car goes into 4x4 mode ok, both hubs engage, but when I go back into 2wd, only the right hub disengages, the left hub remains engaged, tried switching the hubs and same effect, must be something with the vac system for disengaging.

Yeah it's either a blocked pipe or a leak. If you have a hand vacuum pump it should be fairly easy to find where.

Sound to me like they packed the hub with too much grease when changing the wheel bearing. This then means the hub sticks

Take it off and remove most of the grease to can see, "less is more" is a phrase I would use

I switched the hubs over and the same issue happened, left was still engaged and right was disengaged that's why im thinking the amount of grease might be fine. I did post two images but they are links doesn't look like to much grease, the centre park locks fine when you push it in. cheers
