The unit I had was fully functioning as a standalone solution.

I had satnav, dab, BT hands free/music streaming, tyre pressure, music player USB or SD card) front and rear cameras (replaced with 360 Birds Eye camera) engine gauges/ECU codes, etc.

The unit I have in my other car also has Android Auto and iPhone link with screen mirroring.

I think like everything else they are all made in China.

But that was not a pioneer or a well known brand?

I am kind of fed up buying stuff that fail too soon.

I still would like to know what brand these head units are.

And if someone have any longer experience with any of these (to me) unknown brands.

Or if there is any well known brand with a good proper Android head unit?

The eBay Android ones I have been looking at did not have a proper level controlled pre out for a subwoofer with adjustable low pass filter.

I'm going off on a bit of a tangent now but it has occurred to me that having a radio with its own screen is duplicating your phone. I understand that the argument is that you leave your phone in the glove box or your coat pocket or something then you are free from all the holding your phone while driving laws but certainly here as long as the phone is in a fixed cradle of some kind you can still touch it to change the track or take a call and with the too clever assistant most phones have you can just ask it without even touching it. So it occurs to me that really you don't actually need a head unit, just an amplifier and some means of connecting to the phone. The easiest being a 3.5mm jack plug to rca assuming you have a headphone socket on your phone or if not then a Bluetooth receiver with rca out. It has the additional advantage of freeing up more storage in the dashboard and being out of sight of the criminal classes. Further it means that you are then using your money to buy just the amplifier so you can make it sound really nice or loud if you want.
