I don't have 4G manuals so I can't be certain, but this is consistent with how Suzuki has wired headlights on most vehicles I have looked at, they fuse the headlights separately and switch the negative, it's done for safety reasons, a failed fuse won't take out both left & right headlights simultaneously.
This diagram comes from an Australian facebook group, I've not attempted to confirm anything.

I checked the head light fuses thinking I could just add a circuit to that but the fuses in the engine bay seem to be “live” constantly even with ignition off?

Thanks for that @fordem
What I’m hoping to find is a positive ideally under the dash where the other switches are such as the lane assist / headlight washer switch - but the I need the live to be only present when the headlight is on - not the side light only.
Purely because the required standard states that the rear Fog lamp should only come on when the headlights are on.

Hi. I would really like to do this procedure myself.
Could you explain what switch the negative means?
Would I not be able to take a feed from the headlight plug for the foglight?
Any advice appreciated

Based on what you have told us, it is acceptable for the rear fog light(s) to be switched on when the front fog lights are on, irrespective of the headlights, if the car has front fog lights, those should be positive switched.
Negative switching...
The lamp in the first circuit is positively switched, the lamp in the second circuit is negatively switched
