Hi , new here.

I started with the dueler ht 684 for maybe 6 months, were an average tyre but wanted to go to all terrain for puncture resistance. I got a set of Yokohama geolander go15 all terrains which were very good value in stock size and have been very impressed. Handling was better and fuel economy almost the same (6.5-7.5 L/100 kms. Also the puncture resistance was amazing. I have been through wet grass, mud, sand and gravel roads and had no issues and they are good in snow (3 peak rating). I've been thru muddy areas where a guy with maxxis 980 215s for stuck and was worried I would too but just drove thru no issue! They are a more hybrid all terrain as they have 4 channels as well as the blocks but they have side biters which makes them look good and be resistant to punctures. They arw also great in the wet. They are very lightweight about 11 kg too. Plus I got 92000 kms on first set ( and still legal with 4 mm tread) when I changed them. One advantage I have noticed over the masses with their 215s is the lack of the phantom skid on dirt roads, never happened to me. I'm on my second set and done 75000 kms with 5 mm left. No punctures. I would get another set but hard to come by and price gone from $220 to $300-350 each. I prefer to keep to stock size for weight purposes and my options aside from the hankook dynapro atm ( which is rare now too) are an assortment of RTs such as Radar and Patriot which are essentially the  same tyre ( far cheaper but less well reviewed) and the Toyo open country RT which is expensive but looks better made $419 or the bfg KO3 $530! I had bfg ko before on my rocky and was terrible in wet roads,
got punctures too just looked cool. Whether I can get the advantage of the Toyo for the price I'm not sure 70/30 usage tar gravel snow grassy trails and forestry roads. I'm may just go for the hankook ( unfortunately not 3 peak in stock size)or the geolanders Adrian

Is there a forum member among the masses who can help me understand this "phantom skid on dirt roads"?

I learned to drive on dirt roads, and have a fair amount of experience on dirt roads, growing up in a third world country where the "asphalted road network" covers perhaps 10% of the country will do that for you, I've skidded & slipped, that's expected if you're driving in dirt, but the concept of a "phantom skid" is completely new to me.

Is this a Jimny thing, or maybe a Jimny on 215s thing?
