Tips for changing gearbox and transfer box oil needed was created by robs5230
Hi
At the first opportunity I get, I'll be renewing the oil in the main gearbox, transfer box and diffs
Been some years since I've done this on a Jimny and remember last time, it was a bit of a bugger, trying to fill from the bottles, and it being difficult to get all the oil out of the bottles.
Anyone have any useful tips? I'll be tacking this lying under the Jimny
Thanks

I have a 500ml syringe with a silicone pipe on the end. So much cleaner.

I use one of these, search gearbox oil pump.
Various makes from £13 to £20, mines made by Sealey so it's at the higher end, but it looks the same as the £13 pictured.
I started with a syringe, they work fine, but I personally found them difficult to use lying on my back. The one I had also leaked at the plunger, so in use oil would eventually run down my arms etc, very messy.
The advantage for me is I hook the filler pipe in and sit at the side of the vehicle (in relative comfort) until it's full. The disadvantage is it's not as fast as the Syringe.
A TIP - if you can lift the vehicle. I put mine on 4 off ramps, so it remained level for filling, but I had more space to move around. Helps no end, I particularly if you go for a Syringe.

That looks even better
Any idea of the quantities I'll need for a 2006 manual
Gearbox
Transfer box
Diffs?
I used to have all this written down. Sorry
