4WD and 4WD-L lights flashing

4WD and 4WD-L lights start flashing randomly when driving in 2WD mode. They may keep flashing for half an hour, then stop, and then again. It doesn't matter if I'm moving or stalling.

Both 4WD and 4WD-low modes are working as they are supposed to. I have found no driving defects, except for the lights that keep flashing with the pattern in this video.

The mechanic checked for vacuum leaks and found nothing.

The electrician checked the 4WD module signal and made me change both switches in the transfer box, part 37630-76J20.

I have had these lights flashing for more than 5000 km and four months. Could you help me? What can I check now?

The only thing left is the actuator on the transfer box, it has a limit switch that can go wrong.

Check all the wiring for broken wires/corroded connectors.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Hello, thank you for your answer, do you mean 29300-76J00 part? I can't find where it's located, do you have any diagram, additional hint?

No idea on part number, my Gen 3 had a lever transfer box, but here is all I have

Mine does this fast blinking when the vacuum switch valves (below the battery) freeze up and stick during cold and below -5 C periods. I hold a bag of warm water to the valves and the blinking calms down and I can shift it into 4x4 again. Never happens when it is warm.

I had the valves out and lubed and dried them a few times to the best of my ability so they work much better now but sometimes they still stick.

I have just bought a new to me set of valves used that I will swap in soon.

Or maybe next year as there is most likely not coming more cold weather now, I am ready for the spring in just a few weeks!

Another vote for the actuator unit bolted to the transfer box. Same thing happened to me and I found that it was all gunked up inside.

What would really help me are pictures because I can't seem to locate this. Until now I have still the same issue, but now sometimes 4x4 is flashing alone, and it is totally random. When I put the car in 4x4 mode or low mode, it could display correctly or flash randomly as well. Now when I start any mode I have to put the window down and try to ear if the vacuum is releasing or not by the crack sound. I have also found a cracked vacuum tube to the front right wheel. I thought changing it would fix it all but nothing has changed.

My last thought / try would be to find a 38885-61LC0 4WD spare module to try to change it and see if this fix the whole thing but I can't seem to find one here (Colombia).

Hi friends! I have some questions here.

After unmounting the actuator on the transfer box, the flashing lights error (both lights flashing, 4WD and 4WD-L) is gone BUT I still have a single flashing light. This means that in 4WD, the 4WD light is flashing, while in 4WD-L, the L light is flashing. But not both anymore, at least. The vacuum lines are fully clogged by dirt and grease from the bearings, the vacuum hubs are not disengaging due to multiple damage to the spindle and locking nut. No matter what happens, the vacuum system is failing and it would be very expensive to buy all the spare parts required. For the records, I would need to buy a left freewheel spindle, a bearing lock nut (the one with the four holes), and an automatic freewheel hub. And then I should replace the vacuum lines, and maybe I could fix it, or maybe there is something else.

So after a long time, the actual situation is that my automatic vacuum hubs are no longer unlocking. This means that they are working just like fixed hubs. So I'm now thinking to fit some manual freewheel hubs from AISIN (FHS-002) or AVM (457 HP). Can someone confirm if AVM are steel-made like the AISIN ones? In Colombia, the cheapest option available is buying AISIN hubs from Amazon US ($75/each). Local stores sell mainly AISIN and AVM (but not the 457 and not high-performance ones), but for higher prices.

So I have been trying, beforehand, to stop the light from flashing, given that my hubs are working like fixed ones. But if I try to do so, surprise, I get both light flashing again!

I have seen on Youtube and in the BigJimny Wiki  that I have to short-circuit this connector:

So I have tried this way, right??

And I have also looped these vacuum tubes:

I have also tried to only stop the tube that is marked with a white stripe (the one that in the Wiki is marked for locking the hubs, going to the second solenoid VSV2), according to this post . The author says he has no leaking pipes, mine are clogged, so I shouldn't have any leak as well, right? Whatever I try, I always get a flashing light error, both lights flashing!

The only way I can get only one light flashing is without short-circuiting the connector, and having the pipes like they are:

How can I stop both lights from flashing? I am going to fit the manual hubs but first I would like to know how to solve this issue.

Thank you!

In the UK the cost of replacing those parts would be significantly less than the cost of manual hubs.
Once you have linked the wires in the vacuum switch connector it shouldn't matter what you do with the vacuum hoses, but leaving them looped or blocked is the best option.
