Hi all,
Realise this is a slightly dated thread but I am currently undertaking the exact same work on my 05 Jimny.
@TrondK this has been a very useful resource over the past months (also been doing a lot of other work). I have freed all the relevant body mounts and am ready to lift the chassis now. It would be really helpful to know how you did this? Also did you drill out the spot welds prior to lifting the chassis or after, I assume afterwards but it would still be useful to know. Like yours mine has a reasonable amount of corrosion (probably more severe than your example) in the surrounding material. Obviously this will also have to be dealt with but I have been reluctant to cut away the 'reference' surfaces before offering up the replacement floor member tail. I was thinking of first attaching the panel with a few spots welds to ensure alignment before dealing with the surrounding rot. Is this how you approached it, any pointers would be much appreciated.
I'll add a few pictures below for reference and perhaps I will start a thread in the coming days. Maybe it will help anyone planning to undertake similar work in future.
Many thanks in advance. Cheers, Ollie
