Any tips/ideas help in getting access to and removing the gearbox filler plug ?
Ive tried from underneath whilst on ramps, and from top but I just cant the tool or purchase on the plug to remove it.
I have the "s" type key and also socket type key but struggling.
TIA

What year / model car?
Mine was a 3/8 square so I used Just the wrench with no socket.

I do the same as Yakuza, can't recall the size, but one of my socket wrench square drive pegs just fits the plug.
Been easy for me from below on ramps. Not on the gearbox, but I did need to warm the case of the axle with a blow touch around the filler to get it out. Did not take much heat, just a warm up and the bung came out. Maybe if it's tight on the gearbox try this. As it's alloy just warm it slightly, it will expand enough.

Be VERY careful with this approach - it's 10mm square, NOT 3/8 inch and at some point the use of 3/8 inch square drive will slip & round out the hole.yakuza wrote: What year / model car?

Agree, tanks for arresting me. But there is almost no room for the wrench plus socket.
I make sure not to overtighten.
