I have just had a quick read of the workshop manual on the ABS flashing light problem and one thing it does mention is that the ABS module monitors the voltage to the stop light bulbs. It might be worth a check of these bulbs as a bit of rust on their contacts could cause an intermittent fault.

That gave me an issue when swapping to LED rear lights. I found that switching on the side lights or headlights set off the ABS light. Also the indicators flashed too fast. Needed a resistor on the both brake and indicator lights to sort it out.

Thank you all. My Jimny booked for an MOT next week, now the flashing ABS light is out. The local garage checked and cancelled the warning light without charge. The warning light has not re-occurred, so don't know why it happened, but all seems well at the moment. Thanks again for your support.
