Received the new cam sensor. Thanks Martin. Still big problems with the jimny. Will not fire up. Again - if there are any jimny experts in NI please make yourself known to me. Otherwise this may be RIP jimny. I've seen the new one in the flesh - don't think I like the looks :-(

Sorry to hear that. If I were closer I'd off to assist.

Surely there's someone on here with a bit of technical expertise that could help this troubled person?

Am guessing here;

Is it possible the immobiliser is playing up?

Do you have another key you can try in it?

Would a vac leak on the throttle body cause a non-start like this?

Thanks for your help.
The outcome has not been good.
Ended up having to take it to Suzuki. Initial inspection has revealed that there is a major fault with the timing. The exhaust camshaft is operating correctly but the inlet camshaft is not. In order to proceed the cost will not be financially viable for me. Over the last number of weeks I have learned there are no jimny specialists in NI. There are very limited reconditioned engines available. There is no one where I live willing to work on a rebuild of a jimny. So unfortunately the title of the topic has been prophetic. I'm not willing to turn the jimny over to a scrapyard for scrap value (£100 in NI) so I'm going to take it off the road and see what the future holds. She ran well up until this point - 120,000 miles and the rest of the vehicle is in excellent condition. But this Jimny is dead.
Maybe I'll find a charity or a good cause that will some how benefit from a dead jimny. I always believe good will come out of every bad situation.
