Recently bought a 2002 hard top Jimny.....I brought it home drove it 25 miles mint next day took it out after 30 mins seen temperature gauge rise quite high then it started steaming mad out of the pressure bottle on the side there's no water in the oil or oil in the water any suggestions what this could be?? Thanks in advance

There are a few things it could be, easy ones to look at are thermostat on side of engine might not be opening. Other one could be the viscous fan has shit itself. When the engine is hot you should be able to free spin the fan as far as I know.

When the engine is hot the fan kicks in seems good the fan does after about 10 mins the pressure bottle starts steaming where's the thermostat and is it hard to change I've only just bought a Jimny never owned a jeep before

You would need to have a quick google surch on location depending on your engin but when looking into the engin bay mine is located in the left at the end of the top radiator hose. Easy job usually only 2 or 3 bolts, you can test them by putting it into hot water to see if it opens up to let water past. Also just make sure your radiator isn't full of mud on the outside, I had a over heating problem only 3 weeks ago but it was due to being driven through mud a lot and never washing the radiator off after.

Some thermostat are located left hand side underneath the manifold but of a nightmare to get at really.

If it's an 02 it might have the g13b engine, and the thermostat is easy. Take it out and run it, if it still overheats, then it's something else.
Do you get white smoke from exhaust on start up? Is she losing water?
