Why read the manual and then ignore the procedure ???
Timing chain?
I'm pretty sure the engine in this topic is a g13bb, not a m13a.

I wonder if a nice friendly garage will let you into their Autodata computer's info just for the head torqueing procedure and settings as the rest I think from your experience you'll work out as you go along.
Are you getting the head skimmed? At that mileage I think I would.
It's a testament to these twin cam units how good they are if they get to 178k miles before needing a new head gasket!

head will be skimmed as a matter of coarse along with a few other service jobs , never had a complaint with it and its never broke down on me the wife wont go near it as its full of dog hairs saw dust lol on the good side my good lady managed to crack open the cd with all the jimny files of do,s and donts , it is a twin cam and up to now havent found anything about removing the sump , time will tell no doubt

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there
