Nah, leaving them locked won't have caused it. Like I say, I think they just need a bit of tlc.

Just don't over grease them. They just need a little bit to stop binding. It's probably old grease gone hard in the cold stopping them sliding inside.

if the hubs are at fault and they may be, a strip and clean/relube should sort it. i bought a set that needed rebuilding and its a quickish job . check as mentioned in other posts. once you have cured the faulty hub , i'd also redo the working one.

to be honest i can't remember whether the wheel has to come off or not. but i do remember you can strip and rebuild them on the dining room table ;)
i bought the grease and sealant from the bigjimny shop. martin will tell you what you need.

I don't even have a soft top but I'm excited to see these fiberglass fast backs. A chap that goes down my old club made one out of sheet aluminium for his SJ and is really cool. He is a bodywork guru for a local tvr specialist.

You don't have to take the wheel off but it might make life easier. The only thing is with the hub being able to spin is trying to get the bolts undone when the hub wants to go round unless you can get someone to press the brakes!
