It's the sensor for air intake temprature, why would you want to remove it anyway?

Just unplug it and take it for a spin if you must

You got it in one Mick. I have just such a filter in my parts box that I bought yonks ago for one of my Vitaras and was going to try to whack it on this morning but then saw the bloomin' sensor thing. Can't this car run without having dozens of sensors.
So what do I do with the sensor??
Good job I didn't cut the hole for the air scoop first.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

That is the inlet air temperature sensor.
To add 500BHP you add a "chip" (from eBay) which shorts that out (seems illogical, as I'd expect that to underfuel)
So presumably with it disconnected you will lose 500BHP
It won't fuel right with it disconnected, dangling it in the engine bay is better, drilling a hole in the new filter and fitting the sensor through a grommet is best.
