Hi Guys I've been viewing this forum for a whole number of things to do with my jimny and its been great help so thank you all so much for keeping this blog going on all the various problems and fixes with the jimnys,
Right ill cut to the chase - I now have an issue whereby yesterday in good old rainy worthing I was with my Mrs and we were driving along and came to a stop but upon putting the brakes on a little heavy the front wheels locked up and skidded nearly up the ass of another car!
upon reading this forum people have said this is due to the ABS not working so I phones the garage last night after meeting another fellow jimny driver in the petrol station and the guy said to me "when you turn the ignition on you should see the ABS symbol illuminate" however this isn't happening which is a worry even when I start the engine its not coming on!
also when I bought the car the brakes were dodgy because the sliders had seized as it had been in a barn for 2 years and only worked on one side of the calliper. (Let's just say it was a dodgy ride home.)
however cut a long story short I took it to my mechanic and he said when he fixed the brakes he realised the ABS Sensors weren't plugged in! at the time I didn't think anything of it until yesterday when we came to a stop and it nearly skidded up the ass of another car.
Can anyone tell me why someone would disconnect the ABS sensor and from what the garage said possible remove the light from behind the dash in order to get it through an MOT?
is there a common problem with Jimnys ABS?
its a 2001 JLX model black with chrome trim.
Thanks for all your help in advance guys!

thats great so althoe there isnt any lights on the dashboard you think it might be a sensor?
as i say it just suddenly skidded to a stop when she pressed slightly too hard on the peddle.
im just worries the previouse owner removed the bulb to get it through the MOT.
im pretty good at fixing card but i wont touch brakes as its a bit out of my depth and god forbid something goes wrong.
ive got a local garage who is going to have a look at it for me next week and diagnose what the problem is and ill repost what they find.
Thanks for your reply!

Just an update
I've got the car booked in tomorrow to have it looked at by a local garage however when I looked at the car on Saturday underneath i can only see the pipes going into the hub for the air lock 4 wheel drive on the front.
where are the sensors located?
seems weird as there are no wires coming down to the front or back wheel hubs???
also, I looked at the blade fuses under the dash on Saturday and noticed there is one missing.
also, I plugged in my car fault code reader and it said no faults stored in the ECU and no faults?
does anyone have a diagram which shows what each fuse does because this might just have something to do with the dash light? I'm thinking but far short of nipping out and grabbing any old fuse and sticking it in i don't know if ill cause more damage than good so I thought I'd try and find what fuse is supposed to be in there, but the cover isn't on it so I can't see the fuse layout.
this is the fuse box under the dash on the right knee side of the steering wheel.
It's a 2001 Suzuki Jimny M13A engine
once again thanks for all your help with this its muchly appreciated.

Are you sure your car should have abs?

Hi Yes I think so!?
its a bit of a worry thoe as I can't find anything relating to it online.
the garage said it was unplugged when I took it in to have the brakes fixed! so I'm guessing it has.

If you have a look under the back end and it had a spring connecting an arm(part of the load sensing valve) on the chassis to a bracket on the top of the rear diff then you don't have abs. The jimny has had 3 different brake systems but I'm not sure of the change over years. I'll dig through my manual as I think it has the change over vin codes.
