Abs light stays on

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

If it has abs, there will be a dirty great actuator, festooned with brakepipes under the bonnet.
To pass MOT this should have been removed.
I don't know about the jimny, but a trick some manufacturers pull is to overbrake the front so the wheels will lock easily, and rely on the abs action to chop the brakes back for them. The rear will naturally overbrake, as they don't fit the load compensator.

Hi, Guys right the guy at the garage today looked under the bonnet and sad "nope" you don't have ABS apparently.
the only thing which worried me is he said the actuator which you have pointed out in the picture he says was near the battery he didn't even look at the side where your arrow is pointing.
ill have a look later and confirm your picture.
ill post the Vin Code tonight and we shall see as he again didn't fill me with confidence!
he also said the radiator is on its last legs then used his pen to rub a load of the fins off! I just said "yeah looks like I'm gonna" ha ha
so basically god knows what the first mechanic plugged in - today's mechanic thinks he might have plugged in the brake sensor?"
I appreciate all your help guys I will take photos of the car and VIN plate tonight and post them on here for you all to confirm.

Can you take it somewhere else for a second opinion?

that was the second opinion ha ha
ill take some pictures of the engine bay tonight and let you guys have a butchers and see what you can find.
its a pain because every mechanic I take it to gives me conflicting opinions!
I'd prefer to let you guys have a look rather than a mechanic which isn't as knowledgeable about this car.
Thanks guys ill take some pics when im back from work later....

What he was pointing out was the brake master cylinder, which if you look at facade's picture you can see a small reservoir of yellowish fluid with the grey lid just to the right of the battery, this is on top of the master cylinder. That abs actuator that façade has kindly highlighted is what provides the pulsing effect for the abs and the master cylinder provides the pressure. I was surprised how easily the jimny locks up, another reason to fit decent tyres I suppose...
Also if you could take a picture from a similar viewpoint as facade's we'll be able to tell you.

Hi guys,
Right so here is where I'm at:
1st mechanic fixed brakes and said "your abs sensor wasn't plugged in for some reason"
2nd mechanic today says "you haven't got ABS" (confused.com)
The users on here have kindly posted a pic displaying a car with abs and as you can see from the pics of my engine bay its looks like there isn't an actuator on the right hand side!
I've added a few photos one of which is the fuse modal housing under the bonnet which says on the front ABS and has a fuse in the slot.....?
From the pic I can't see anything which relates to abs so I'm guessing it's not equipped on this petticoat model?
How strange that all the fuses are in there thoe?
Thanks for all your help guys it is very much appreciated!
