Well we're close now. I should be part of the caravan fraternity by the start of March all being well.

We have yet to purchase a van, and are now looking at an Eriba Puck.

I have just seen this Eriba Pan Familia which is the same van but with a heating and a fridge etc. this takes the MiRO up to 541KG.

eBay item ref 291082416304

Any ideas if you think this will be a tad on the heavy side coincide ring the Legal Max is 1300KG. The owner has used a family members Suzuki Sj in the past and said that it towed the van swimmingly.

Any thoughts?

Ta

Shouldn't be any problem Most of these vans are about the same max eg 750kgs.
You'll have to actually check out the weight that the familia can take as I think these vans are usually around 150kgs ,due to their extra light construction, which includes everything you need on holiday eg Gas,water, food, clothes, awning.battery chairs etc. That would take it to about 800 kgs
The only thing with the Eriba is that they are sought after by the VW/classic crowd because of the retro looks and low weight so this tends to keep prices high for older models and, being aluminium they can dent!
Another point is the door is on the right (continental style) so it could be an issue stopping on a road for a break on a narrow layby but it'll be ok on a site.
Overall the Jimny will tow it easily :)

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)

A work collegue posted this YouTube video on my Facebook wall when I'd been talking about my future caravan purchase and the ability to tow the Eriba.
As you say Gilburton.....from this clip I have a feeling the lightweight (in caravan terms) Eriba should be fine. ;-)

Looks good. Nice and tidy. :)
The Eriba Puck is quite small and basic but you won't lose any money on it!
It's so small you might not need mirrors as it's only 5cms wider than the Jimny i.e. 2.5 cms either side ?? At worse a simple clip on one on the drivers side will suffice.
It doesn't have a friction stabilizer but try it first as you may not need one.
As I noted before it's a R/H door so it may or may not be an issue??
The good thing about the Jimny is that it doesn't have any overhang at the rear like some cars so the weight is virtually over the rear axle :)
Just make sure your nose weight is within recommended max weight. A bathroom scale under the jockey wheel will do as it's usually only up to 75kgs max.
A good rule of thumb is can you lift the front of the van by the hitch fairly easily.

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)
