Hmmmm black gunk of death if oil light was telling the truth then your oil pressure would have been really low just a few psi oil lite flashing doesnt mean i need oil it means im dying help :woohoo:
You may get away with it but the internal damge to the bearings will not fix itself with new oil and filter im afraid mite get it going again but long term damage is inevatable if the poor thing has not been getting oil

Who knows without pulling the motor down and having a look but she just wont survive without oil is it low or high mileage ? ive seen then with 30k on the clock 1 little old lady owner hmmm all seems good truth is engine never gets up to temprature and they get sluged up to hell take it for a good run and it knocks the ends out.
Then i pulled a motor down few weeks ago over 100k on it thrashed to death but regular oil changes and was like brand new on the inside only reason it as dead coz som spanner jockey never tightened the crank bolt when doing the belt and it ate the keyway so honestly its a lottery you may be lucky but as i said oil starvation will not have done it any favours long or short term sorry

It may well be knackered but you've gotta try to see if it survives rather than just write the engine off.

Absolutly give it a try but if it has run without oil chances are it will have suffered some damage to the bearings
